Dimensional Energy, a leader in the production of sustainable fuels and other chemicals from carbon dioxide, is seeking a motivated, creative, experienced Principal Reactor Design Engineer to advance our proprietary thermocatalytic reactors.  This job could be remote, located in Tucson, AZ, or in the Los Angeles area. Job Summary

The primary role of the Reactor Design Engineer is to apply their advanced knowledge and creativity, along with Dimensional Energy proprietary reactor technologies, to model and innovate reactors from Pilot to Commercial scale. 


Pay and Benefits

  • The salary range for this position is $130,000-$160,000 based on experience.

Key Responsibilities

Activities will Include:  

  • Designing, modeling, and simulating thermal heterogeneous catalytic reactors. 
  • Optimizing catalyst architectures. 
  • Scaling reactor systems. 
  • Leading project teams with diverse multidisciplinary members. 
  • Assisting with test procedures and data analyses. 
  • Mentoring and training employees. 
  • Writing reports, grants, and summaries. 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • BS / MS with 10+ years' experience, or PhD with 5+ years' experience, in reactor design, petrochemical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field. 
  • Motivated and passionate about developing new technology to combat climate change. 
  • Highly innovative, flexible, and natural problem solver. 
  • Specific experience designing and modeling of thermally-driven heterogeneous catalytic reactors, high temperature & high-pressure systems.  
  • Knowledge of syngas, gas-to-liquids, Fischer-Tropsch reactors a plus. 
  • Experience with heliostat solar receivers would be beneficial. 
  • History of scaling from lab-scale to commercial scale. 
  • Ability to lead and function as part of a team. 
  • Project management experience preferred. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, data analysis software, Design of Experiments software, Multi-physics modeling and CFD software such as COMSOL and ANSYS.
